Another sunny Sunday and another O event ! This time it was a District event at Clapham Woods, a new area to Orienteering in the south east (which doesn't happen very often). After my successful run at Wimbledon last night, I was looking forward to a run in a new area. It was another beautiful sunny morning, even had my sunnies on !

We got to Clapham just after 9am, ready for an early run as we were both helping on second shift. As usual, the SO band of volunteers turned up in force and ensured all ran smoothly. I was ready to go before the start officials and the maps were even at the start ! Les was ok with me starting early anyway and I was the first one off. It was lovely, knowing there was noone else out there.

The first control was very close to the start, closer than I was expecting ! I did get a little confused with the paths on the way to 2, but got there (after dropping down into a huge hole) ok. Route choice was ok for most of the course, there were some longer legs and my legs felt a bit tired from last night ! The course headed north over to the slope overlooking the main road and the planner had placed a control in a large depression halfway down it, with the next control back at the top of of it !

The course was good and the area an interesting mix of woodland and open areas. Some route choices were a little limited due to fences and I had a reasonable amount of path running. I did see Mike and a few other people, but not many until I was almost on the way back in ! I did go over again on the way to 14 (which Anna had trouble finding).

There was a reasonable turn out, considering there were other events on too, the weather was fab and having the second tent up was great, especially as John had arranged some sparkling drink and crisps and sausage rolls for his birthday ! It made for a good social atmosphere after the event.
