Well, I found this one tough going !! I remember it being a tough little area, but not quite as tough as I found it on Saturday. Ed planned a really good course, but I did have a slight issue over the really long legs !! (ie they were too long)

At least it was a dry morning, although a little chilly as I was out for 71 minutes..... Possibly wasn't concentrating properly as I was thinking about the SI training event afterwards. I didn't exactly go the direct route to number one and wasn't following an obvious route choice. Onwards to two, three and four were better, although a bit slow. The first of the longer legs was onto 5, I think my route was ok, just dithered a bit and was a bit slow (again) up hill .......

Anna caught me up near 6, I decided to cut the corner a little bit through some rough open and got stuck in the brambles, whilst Anna went round. We both tried to go direct out of it towards 7, and both were slowed down by more brambles. Anna got out first to the east of where I was heading, then ran back past me as she couldn't get through the next bit ! So I followed her in then promptly lost her ! Seven to eight was ok, a bit of a longer path run, then ducking in last minute. Out of eight and then I dithered again. I decided to go direct through the big bit of rough open, deciding there appeared to be a bit of a track through it, but found out not far in that it wasn't easy going. I ended up to the east, but near a convenient crossing point into the wood, meaning I didn't have to jump any streams !

Back uphill to number nine and off downhill towards 10, which I think I was a little bit lucky on. Then the first of the two really long legs to 11 - it was a bit of a long slog back through the wood, across the open (uphill) and across another field. Onto 12 was ok, across the field and back into the woods. Out of 12, I dithered again - this was the longest leg to 13. I missed a path I was heading for and found myself out in the open again but decided to head south to find a convenient crossing point and to avoid going through all the rough open again. I did go through some of it though, quite successfully this time as I could see the top of the tree the control was on !

I played it safe onto fourteen, downhill following the path and back into the woods again ! The last three controls were all fine route choice wise, I just struggled out of the last one again, having done so in the same  area last time we ran there and onto the finish. All in, not a great run at all.
