Having been running in my neutral Nike trainers for three years, I thought it was about time I got my gait analysed again and got some proper running shoes. Laura recommended going to the Tortoise and the Hare, near Cranleigh, so I did yesterday.

Again, still lovely weather, great for a drive in the country. The place was a unit amongst many other small units at Smithbrook Kilns on the A281 and they were really knowledgable, friendly & helpful. They could see, as soon as I took my shoes off almost what my feet were doing and I could feel it too, once they mentioned it. My feet do roll inwards, when I stand still and relax, so structured supportive shoes were tried.

They asked me to go outside and just jog up and down a few times, so they could watch my feet and see if the shoes were doing what they're supposed to. I tried a couple of different shoes on and did this, and they also noticed my right knee rolls inwards as my leg comes through the stride, hnce the foot also rolling inwards....... it's amazing how it's all linked together.

I ended up with a pair of Brooks Adrenaline GTS8 shoes - very smart and doing the job.

Having bought the shoes, I had to try them out when I got home, so went for a little run in the afternoon. I ran from home, though Ifield, round the school, under the main road, into West Green, round the back of the cemetery, over the railway into Goffs Park, round once and back home the same way. A total distance of 9.06kms in 55.25mins or a pace of 6.07mins/km Laughing so quite pleased and happy with that !

I'm also amazed I ran that distance, only really stopping for a breather as I went over the railway bridge twice. I must be doing something right ! Only problem now is my nice new shoes are now muddy already !!
