Yet another Wednesday off, another beautiful sunny day and another Army O event, this time at Yateley. I travelled down with Bridget, Les, Sue & Jim again and as it was so nice, decided to run in my summer O top with no thermal on underneath !!

I entered the B Course again - only 6.8km with 100m climb !! It was another area I had not run on before and I got the usual why aren't you at work comments from Pat !

Sue and I walked to the start and I went off first. The first leg was a really long one (1.24km from the Forerunner afterwards), which had some route choice, either up and over or round the bottom along the paths, which is what I did. I overtook some earlier starters too, so was feeling quite good ! On the way to 2 I went in almost knee deep at one point, which wasn't much fun. Two to three was fine, more path running, then following a ditch/veg boundary.

Three to four I lost some time faffing about in the light green undergrowth trying to get through. Once I was, it was straightforward to the re entrant. Otherwise, I had a reasonable run, didn't get lost, dithered to seven a bit, found a lot of dumped rubbish in the top north east corner of the map, but was quite pleased with it all.

After downloading and changing, we went to look at the results and I noticed a camera (proper tv type camera) in the car park. On getting home and checking the results, it appeared the BBC were at the event !! One of their sports reporters actually went out and tried orienteering and it was to be shown on BBC Breakfast, the following Saturday. Couldn't miss that, so set the Sky+ box to record the entire BBC Breakfast and caught it anyway at 08.30. Was a good report and was a lovely day for their filming it.

I do enjoy the Army midweek events, shame I can't get to more of them...
