So the reason for blogging again is that I am back in training. No real target yet, just recovering slowly and gradually (sensibly) from an injury, which was quite nasty at the time.
I went over on my ankle really badly at the British O Champs on the New Forest in Feb09. I limped back from control 3 to the assembly and was taken straight to the first aid guys, who suggested I go to Southampton A&E. So we did and spent 2 hours there, which wasn't too bad. I had my ankle xrayed and looked at, luckily nothing was broken. I was told to keep off it as much as possible for a month and then be really careful what I did... I wasn't even allowed to walk to work, which I do every day and is only a 15 min walk.
With the wedding only weeks away, I was very careful anyway. I did not want to be limping up the aisle !!
But, now I am finally back into training. I had a reprogramme at the gym three weeks ago and hadn't been since, until Friday when I finally managed to get to circuits at lunchtime.... It was good, but I ached on sat am and still ache a bit now on Sun pm....
The other good thing is we have a bike at home now too ( a static one, like in the gym). So I can sit in front of the tv, as I was in front of wimbledon the other night, and cycle away. I did almost 3 miles in 10 mins, which I was pleased with, as I've done nothing since Feb.
Then I made it to Circuits on friday... Steve's circuits is a little different, in that we work for one minute on a station, then do 2 mins cardio, back to the next station for another inute, then 2 mins cardio again and so on... there were 10 stations so we did 20 mins cardio plus 10 mins over all the stations (plus dossing time inbetween !!) It was hard work. I almost couldn't move on Sat am and we went to Preston Park for the first of the Summer Sprint races.....
Hopefully I'll keep this up...
