A late addition to the Summer events this one - a summer evening sprint round Hove Park. Was hoping there wouldn't be too many folks there so I could gete some good points... the best laid plans of course don't always work !
It was a beautiful summers evening though, a bit cooler in Hove, than in Crawley with the sea breeze, which was really nice. Mike had decided not to run, but still came down to Hove with me. There was a good number of people there, quite a few non SO people, local runners too.
Rob had planned a course of 3.6kms with 29 controls !! I started a few minutes after Bridget and only two after Les (deliberately). I had to promise I wouldn't catch him up too quickly !
I felt ok running on the shorter legs, but felt it on the longer ones. I could feel I'd not been running for a while. Rob's course was good - made you think, at speed, although there were some longer legs too, to get us up and down the length of the park.
Apparently my face was the same colour as my tshirt when I finished !
I took 27 minutes and the winning time was 19.50... So not too bad.
Afterwards, Mike and I carried on into Hove to find a fish & chip shop and then went down to the beach by the King Alfred Leisure Centre to eat it. It was a bit chilly, but the fish & chips were good and we could see all the lights on the pier and the circus behind us all light up as it got darker !
