Early start and in a rush today as we were going to Jennie's wedding in the afternoon !!

We got there really early and were first starters !! It did feel more like a long sprint, than a normal Blue course as it's quite a small area and at 1:7,500, we had lots of controls, no really long legs (from one end of the map to the other) and we had two maps back to back. It was really good fun though - I always enjoy Blacklands, having planned there too.

One thing that was really odd was how dry it all was - even the stream at the bottom, which we always end up crossing several times. I was really surprised. The first control was on the only cliff on the map - a favourite control site of all planners ! As soon as I realised where it was, I was off, without looking at my map much as I knew exactly where it was ! Vince made good use of the area, having us criss cross it several times, then also run a second loop, almost in reverse using some same control sites. I'm sure it confused people !

We also did go up the hill several times... I did enjoy it though. There wasn't such a good turnout today - various other events on I think, including the JIRCS, so even though I didn't do so well (it was fast), I got some good points !
